Member of the Month May 2017

James Sabatino

We would like to announce James Sabatino is the member of the month for Lincroft First Aid and Rescue Squad.

This goes to an individual who has dedicated numerous hours to the Squad even when attending College. When ever there is a "break" from college you can count on Mr. Sabatino being a LFARS to hang out with fellow members, and answer those calls to help the public. Mr. Sabatino has been very active with the Squad, since he joined as a cadet and began riding on calls. Mr. Sabatino is hardworking and willing to help anyone anytime. We at LFARS are happy to have Mr. Sabatino as a member and wish him the best in College.

1. How old are you?

I am 19 years old.

2. How long have you been a member of LFARS and what year did you join?

I joined Lincroft First Aid & Rescue when I turned 18 years old. I was a cadet within the EMS cadet program since I was 16.

3. What is your favorite part of being a member of LFARS?

My favorite part is the “squad family” perspective. I know the other members of the Squad have my back, even when they are given me “tough love”. These members have gone above and beyond making me feel like one of them, especially my “big brother on the Squad” Armando Tamargo.

4. What are some of your favorite hobbies?

E.M.S is my favorite hobby, but when I am not answering calls I like to hang out with my friends and go fishing.

5. What do you do for work?

I am currently a full time student at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, where I plan on majoring in nursing.

6. What is your ideal vacation?

Any place that my family and poodle are near by; have good food, and someplace to go fishing.

7. What made you want to join LFARS and why do you answer calls?

I have always had a passion for helping people and was intrigued by medicine. When I read about the cadet program for EMS, I figured I would join since I am generally calm during stressful situations. I answer calls because I like helping others and want to reassure the patients I encounter that the can rest easy knowing that someone is there to help them. Everyday is a gift, and don’t take it for granted.
